The site of (St Gellért Square, Budapest)] BKK boat station used to be the first floatplane station of Budapest. In the 1920s several foreign guests chose the floatplane to visit Gellért Spa.

The station was established in 1923 near Liberty Bridge (called Ferenc József Bridge at the time) by Aeroexpress Plc., a partly Hungarian owned airline. Besides scheduled flights they offered air taxi and pleasure flight services as well. The company expanded its service area along the Danube first to Wien and later to Munich while chartered flights took passengers to any requested destination.

Despite initial success the company remained unprofitable so the station was closed in 1926. A commemorative plaque was placed on the riverbank.
