Description per station
Kistolmács - forest railway station
The small railway network of Csömödör State Forest Railway is the largest in Hungary, with a total length of more than 100 kilometers. Of which 32 km are suitable for passenger transport. The small train can also be used to carry bicycles. Near the station there is a resting place (Kozár-forrás) and a beautiful lake awaiting. Social facilities for bathing are located at the southern end of the lake (changing rooms, washbasins). From the station, take the blue + sign into the forest in the direction of west.
Budafa Arboretum
The blue cross, then the red sign leads to the entrance to the Arboretum of Budafa. After about 45 minutes walk we arrive at the entrance to the park (Attention, the arboretum can be visited for entrance fee!).
The core of the area is the hunting lodge built by the Zichy family in 1926 and the small park and lake around it. After the nationalization of the estate, in 1954, the arboretum began to be established for the sake of public welfare and, on the other hand, to promote the introduction of tree species from distant lands and remote continents. In the park, there are currently 132 species of coniferous trees and 88 species of lime trees. In the spring, when the azaleas bloom, the arboretum changes to a true fairy-tale garden. The arboretum has a demanding playground. Crossing the arboretum on the designated route is approx. takes one and a half hours.
Bázakerettye
Following the red sign from the arboretum, head north and then east. Our tour ends at Bonne Chance Restaurant. Opposite the restaurant stands the forest railway stop.
